1. Pop Festivals
Los Festivales De Música Pop
Peace and love was the mood of the sixties.
The massive anti-Vietnam war demonstrations were attended by thousands of young Americans with flowers in their hair. Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan sang for them.
Then came the big open-air pop festivals. Monterey, California in 1965, Woodstock in 1967. It was the same public.
Jimi Hendrix, Tanis Joplin, Otis Redding, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Sly and the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, Santana. The Mamas and the Papas. The Who, Country To and the Fish... all the musicians were there.
The festivals have continued but pop music has changed. So has the public.
In England the main venues for open-air festivals are Knebworth and Reading. Knebworth is more of a jazz festival. Reading is the place for the loud guitars -groups like Iron Maiden and Motor Head -powerful 'Heavy Metal' music.
It's a long way from Flower Power.

En Inglaterra los lugares más importantes para festivales al aire libre son Knebworth y Readina. Knebworth es más un festival de jazz. Reading asal sitio de las guitarras ruidosas-grupos como Iron Maiden y Motor Head-la potente música de "rock duro".
Estamos muy lejos del movimiento hippy.

3. 999
In an emergency in Britain dial 999. The operator will answer and ask: 'What service do you require?' You must ask for Police, Fire or Ambulance.
The first question will then be: 'What is your name, address and telephone number?'
Don't attempt to describe the problem until you have given this information. Nobody can help without it. And you might be cut off.
The operator will then put you through to the service you require.
En caso de emergencia en Gran Bretaña marque el 999. Contestará la operadora que le preguntara: "¿Qué servicio necesita?" Tiene que preguntar para la Policia, los bomberos o la ambulancia.
La primera pregunta será entonces: "¿Cuál es su nombre, dirección y número de teléfono?
No intente describir el problema hasta que haya
